Paint In The Style Of — Acrylics
About this workshop
Paint In The Style Of — Acrylics: tribute sessions to the great painters we've lost, and exercises in learning from the past masters. Each session, we borrow one master's eyes for the day. Pick your date below, and come and paint the way they did — in bold, fast, forgiving acrylics — until some of it sticks to the way you do.
What you'll make
A finished acrylic painting in the style of that session's master, completed on the day. We look at what made them tick — their colour, their marks, how their compositions and light work — then you paint your own piece in their language, with guidance the whole way. Learning from the masters is the oldest art education there is, and it still works. Come for one session or collect the set.
The masters
The Impressionists, led by Monet — light, atmosphere and broken colour, painted before the moment changes. More tribute sessions join the series soon.
Been to a taster?
If you've been to one of the £6 Acrylics Tasters, any of these sessions is £40 for you.
Everything's supplied
All materials and tools are provided, and refreshments are included. All levels welcome; the master's style gives you a map, which makes these some of the friendliest workshops for beginners. Groups are kept small. Just pick a date — I'll bring everything else, including the biscuits.
Your tutor
I'm Damian Sémonin — working artist and educator, with over 300 students taught here at the Cornish Craft Barn and more than a thousand across my teaching career. I built this series because every painter I admire taught me something I now use daily.
