Paint In The Style Of — David Hockney (Tribute Day)
About this workshop
Paint In The Style Of — David Hockney: a tribute day for one of the great colourists, who left us in June 2026, and an exercise in learning from a modern master. We borrow Hockney's eyes for the day and paint the way he did — bright, flat pool-and-splash acrylics: clean edges, bold colour, water you can almost hear.
What you'll make
A finished acrylic painting in Hockney's style, completed on the day. We look at what made him tick — his colour, his marks, how his compositions and light work — then you paint your own piece in his language, with guidance the whole way. Learning from the masters is the oldest art education there is, and it still works.
Everything's supplied
All materials and tools are provided, and refreshments are included. All levels welcome; the master's style gives you a map, which makes these some of the friendliest workshops for beginners. Groups are kept small. Just pick a date — I'll bring everything else, including the biscuits.
