Impasto St. Michael’s Mount Study

An exploration of impasto layering with a palette knife and colour theory exercise experimenting with techniques and their results for a future large scale painting.

I have previous explored the idea of Bold, Fast and Loose leaning on that driver on the thinking and work of Patti Mollica and book of the same same, linked here if you would like to check in out. One of the pieces to come out of this approach and experiment with palette knife alone was a ‘Pears Study’ with a nod to the work of Euan Uglow, Two Pears, 1990. Below is this this little experimental piece building towards the St. Michael’s study painting.
